Respect January 22, 2009

Respect - for yourself, for others, for the world around you.  Rabbi Hillel, a great Jewish teacher, once said, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? And if not now, when?" If you don't respect yourself, why should others respect you?  If you don't respect others, what kind of person are you?  Start loving yourself right now, in a non-selfish, perfectly appropriate way, acknowledging your own self-worth.  Do all the right things for yourself - graduate high school, go to college, get a job, stay healthy, stand up for yourself, say No, etc - because you deserve it.
